| Our
favorite decorating and design magazines: |
 |
Architectural Digest
is one of the ultimate design magazines. Lush, ultra high-end interiors,
celebrity homes past and present, featuring top designers world-wide.
There's always something interesting each month in almost every
style - and most of it is satisfyingly over-the-top. Also available
en Espanol .
|
 |
Better Homes & Gardens ,
the perennial all-American stand-by, can be counted on for good
ideas in the home decorating, cooking, gardening, crafts, and do-it-yourself
departments. Easily accessible ideas, never avante-garde. |
 |
Elle
Decor
is put out by the same people who publish Elle magazine. It's fashion-forward,
and usually showcases interiors with an interesting twist. From
new traditional to Parisian apartments to seaside villas to rustic
chic - you'll see unusual and fabulous interiors from around the
world. |
 |
Fine Homebuilding
- as are all the Fine (Whatever) magazines, such as Fine Gardening
and Fine Furniture, this is a top-quality product, beautifully and
tastefully done. Fine Homebuilding offers views of gorgeous homes,
and always has technical and construction information that can't
be beat. |
 |
Home
is a great source for do-it-yourself information, and your basic
down-to-earth design. There's always something interesting, but
you won't necessarily see the most current trends in styles. When
you're looking for some of the newest or best products for home
building or renovation, try Home. |
 |
House & Garden
is one of the oldest, most trusted magazines around. Beautiful interiors,
gardens and cooking ideas, always well done, always a little safe,
even though recently it's ventured into areas that are a bit edgier
and more "today". Well worth it, and a magazine that you'll want
to save. |
 |
House Beautiful
is a design mainstay. More accessible than Architectural Digest,
but more upscale and fashionable than Better Homes and Gardens.
An important part of your library for inspiration for home, garden
and cooking. |
 |
Metropolis
examines contemporary life through design - architecture, interior
design, product design, graphic design, crafts, planning, and preservation.
It keeps readers on the brink of new ideas and the design industry.
|
 |
Metropolitan Home
is one of our all-time favorites with great contemporary interiors
that are very now, and never in that scary, cold, too-contemporary
way. It's reliably readable and never fails to have wonderful ideas. |
 |
Traditional Home
is traditional and more. Just by the name, you'd expect sort of
the same old thing. But not necessarily so! This is traditional
done in an updated and fresh way. A really beautiful magazine. |
|
Veranda
offers a little different viewpoint on the usual home and garden
themes. A gamut of styles are shown with a bit of emphasis on the
traditional, all with an opulently elegant yet inviting look. It's
a great find. |
